These books are feminist-y with a patriarchal twist, and lacberg always been SUPER weird and conflicting to me I feel this way about most Scandinavian crime fiction thoughbut that will definitely not stop me from reading the next one. In addition, I found so much of the detail unnecessary to the flow of the story. Because I haven’t read the prior novels I’m not sure how well developed their relationship was prior to Maja their daughter.
Another huge problem is the insanely precocious daughter of the main couple in the series. Was the original in as desperate need of editing, or is the translator responsible for the language that really needed to be tightened up?
Since the cast was so large, the narrator couldn’t come up with a unique voice for each one, which didn’t help my confusion. I’ve read two books by this author and it’s only fair to say that imborrables not for me. A certa altura pensava que estava a ler um livro do Mons Kallentoft See all 4 questions about Las huellas imborrables…. This novel didn’t need the neat ending.
Rachel After having read up to this one, I would advise reading in order. This is why I like stand-al I am sorry but I cannot stand Erica. You get my drift.
I hope this book is just a blip on an otherwise enjoyable series. But it was entertaining and it definitely picked up in the end, though it is still not my favorite. I just get the feeling that the author has watched too many crime dramas on tv and tried to unsuccessfully to adapt what could have been a imborgables plot line to that model.
But in the end Lackberg delivers the tale with the smooth cadence of a ages old mystery coming slowly into the light. Could what little knowledge she has be enough to endanger her husband and newborn baby?
Las huellas imborrables (Patrik Hedström, #5) by Camilla Läckberg (3 star ratings)
I am quite at home with some Scandinavian thrillers but I found that the story in Hidden Child is buried at the expense of character subplot.
This book is a great read though for those who like drama queens and kings. This is the fifth book in the Patrik Hedstrom series. Trivia About The Hidden Child I had read earlier books in this series and remembered enjoying them. I read many about ww two. The only thing I could derive from the character development was the author’s obvious boredom and disdain staying home on maternity leave and distrust of men to be able to handle children.
She put up cwmilla his shenanigans and would forgive him for things at the drop of the hat with no remorse from him. Yuellas seems unlikely they would never have run into each other in the ensuing years.
Secrets of illicit love and murder. The dark past is coming to light, and no one will escape the truth of how they came to be The pieces to this puzzle are many and diverse, but as always, the author slowly and carefully fits them all together.
Las huellas imborrables
This is a translated literary mystery.

And with that, I’m done with this series. They had some interesting characteristics.
Of course the author wants interesting characters with antecedent experiences that inform their actions. We had two mysteries needing solutions in parallel – two current murders, and one from 50 years earlier that may or may not be tied together. Camilla Lackberg is one of a rising group of writers who hail from the frozen tundra of Norway and Sweden and are taking on the world and filling up the chasm left empty by the loss of the author of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy.
It’s every individual’s responsibility to find his own peace- you can’t expect any sort of retribution or believe it will be delivered some day If you haven’t discovered Swedish crime sensation Camilla Lackberg yet, you are in for a treat. Even then some of the remained weak and two dimensional one of which was Patrik, a main character. One of the neo-Nazis of the story says that “It’s human nature for people not to see the consequences of their actions, not to learn from history.
In addition to the characters in the small city’s police force, Erica encounters a journalist who isn’t all that different from Larsson’s Mikael Blomkvist and his “Millennium” magazine.
After reading several books in this series, you start to get a feel for the “formula” the author uses for all her books. Again, the fans probably can’t get enough of the characters. There were moments that generated strong emotions in me, and I especially loved the on-going adventures of the head of the police station who was so unlikable in the first book, and who I found myself looking forward to seeing again as the series progressed.

It also made us think of how we would have reacted in their circumstance and the good and bad about wanting some kind of retribution for the past. Will there be many spoilers?
Despite all that I did get caught up in the mystery itself.
